The MVV-App is a journey planning application developed by the Munich transport association (Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund, MVV). It is a free and ad-free app that provides travel information for the entire public transport network in Munich and the surrounding regions. Whether you're traveling by train, (sub)urban railways, underground, tram, or bus, the MVV-App has you covered. It even offers real-time information in many cases. Additionally, the app allows you to conveniently purchase selected MVV tickets using your smartphone or tablet. Simply register once and choose between single trip tickets or day tickets for your stay in Munich. The MVV-App also provides comprehensive information on public transport in the entire Greater Munich Area, including transport and tariff maps, as well as any recent timetable changes.

The MVV-App offers the following features:

• Departures: The departure monitor shows real-time information on the next departures and arrivals from a stop or nearby stops based on your current location (where available).
• Trips: The journey planner helps you find the quickest route from point A to point B. Simply enter the name of a stop, point of interest, or address in Munich or the surrounding districts as your starting point or destination. You can even use GPS to input your current location. The results include footpath directions and the option to purchase the appropriate ticket directly from the journey planner.
• Disruptions: Stay informed about any disruptions that may impact your daily commute. Disruptions are displayed by lines and their operation names. Please note that descriptions of timetable changes are currently only available in German.
• Tickets: Easily purchase selected MVV tickets as mobile tickets within the "Tickets" menu. Register once in one of the listed shops (offering the same range of tickets) and select your ticket before starting your journey. The app accepts payments via Google Pay, credit cards, or direct debit. It's important to remember to bring your official photo ID as electronic tickets are personalized.
• Network plans: Access various public transport network plans and tariff maps through the MVV-App. While most of the plans are in German, there are also several available in English. For example, you can find the general plan of the regional train, suburban train, and underground in the entire MVV area.
• Interactive map: Navigate the MVV area with ease using the interactive map. It not only provides directions but also offers information on nearby departures based on your GPS signal.
• Settings: Customize your journey preferences in the app's settings. You can choose to avoid stairs during your trip or prioritize less walking time over the quickest connection. If you're bringing a bike, the journey planner can take that into account as well. Additionally, you have the option to exclude connections that are not integrated within the MVV tariff.
